Q: Will you wash my rug, even if it isn’t a Persian/Oriental rug?
A: Of course! We specialize in washing Persian and Oriental rugs, but we will happily wash all types of rugs.
Q: Can you really get the odor out of my pet stained Persian rug?
A: Absolutely. Persian Rug Cleaner has developed an exclusive washing process for pet stains and the odors they cause. The wash contains no harsh chemicals or perfumes and is safe to use on all Persian, Oriental, and handmade rugs- even antique and silk rugs.
Q: How often should I wash my rug?
A: Once every two to three years is usually sufficient. Remember, even if you vacuum/sweep regularly, your rug continues to hold some dirt, the environment dulls its surface, and the natural fibers need to be conditioned. If your rug is exposed to heavy traffic and soil, we suggest washing more frequently.
Q: Should I let my carpet technician also clean my handmade rugs?
A: We strongly suggest not going about this route. Many of these firms do an excellent cleaning job on wall-to-wall carpeting, but the same techniques applied to handmade wool or silk rugs can be disastrous! Many carpet cleaners use cleaning agents specifically formulated for synthetic wall-to-wall carpeting while using hot water or steam to agitate and suspend the soil. These agents are too harsh for handmade wool and silk rugs. Once dry, the rug will lose its luster and look dull and lifeless. In time, it will shed excessively because the hot water and detergent residue left behind has dried out the wool.
Q: How long before I get my rug back?
A: Generally, washing, drying, grooming, and reinstalling your rug takes about two weeks.
Q: Is a rug pad necessary?
A: You bet! You should always have proper padding under your rugs. Not only does padding prevent accidents caused by slipping, but also it also keeps your rug secure and stable. This will greatly prolong the life of your rug. Read more about the importance of rug pads here.
